Murphey Sears

Board Member

Murphey Sears is a seasoned nonprofit leader with a strong track record of driving mission-aligned growth, strategic partnerships, and community impact across several high-profile organizations. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Murphey began her career in media sales before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, where she has devoted her work to supporting vulnerable populations and advancing critical social causes.

Murphey most recently served as Chief Development Officer at Make-A-Wish North Texas, where she led fundraising and engagement strategies to expand resources that bring hope and transformative experiences to children facing serious illness. Prior to that, she was Chief Development Officer at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, where she played a key role in securing philanthropic support for trauma-informed services and community education. Her leadership has strengthened donor engagement, diversified revenue streams, and elevated organizational visibility.

Before her executive fundraising roles, Murphey contributed to community impact and outreach through leadership positions at the Dallas Women’s Foundation and Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, where she championed initiatives to empower women and families and broaden community awareness.

Known for her collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and commitment to service, Murphey brings deep expertise in development, community engagement, and mission-driven organizational growth. Her work reflects a dedication to building partnerships that strengthen nonprofits and enhance outcomes for those they serve.

Murphey joins the PIO board because, as she shares, “I have built my career on a passion for protecting children and breaking generational cycles. PIO speaks to my core mission of breaking the cycle of poverty by giving children the best opportunities to thrive.”
