Family Support Director
Krista believes all families can thrive with a circle of support around them. She has a passion for people and a desire to walk with others as they grow into reaching their full potential. In her role as Family Support Director, Krista partners directly with families as they navigate the transition to a new neighborhood—helping them build community, strengthen stability, and support their children’s academic success. Her favorite part of working at PIO is seeing families empowered by taking small, brave steps and witnessing that turn into impactful change.
Krista began her career in education, spending ten years as an elementary school teacher. Her experience ranged from teaching in a Title I school to working in one of the country’s most affluent districts—a contrast that left her with a deep awareness of the unequal educational opportunities available to students based on their zip code. Throughout her time in the classroom, Krista built strong relationships with students and families, advocated for their needs, and developed strategies that facilitated both academic and personal growth.
After leaving the classroom, Krista joined a nonprofit and engaged in volunteer roles where she focused on empowering women and families through trauma-informed care and comprehensive support services. In those roles, Krista collaborated with local partners and provided one-on-one advocacy and mentorship for vulnerable women.
Krista holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a member of the Mortar Board.
